Restore reliable ignition on your Atwood Hydro Flame DC furnace with the Dometic Atwood 31501 OEM Hydro Flame Furnace Igniter Control Board — DC. Genuine Dometic Atwood OEM replacement ignition control board — 12V DC version — for a wide range of Atwood and Dometic-branded Hydro Flame furnaces. Performs all functions necessary to turn the furnace on and keep it running, with built-in safety features including 15-second ignition delay and flame lock-out.

AC Version Instead?

If your Atwood Hydro Flame furnace is a 120V AC Park Model (rather than the standard 12V DC coach furnace), see the Dometic Atwood 30621 AFL Igniter Control Board — AC — engineered for the AFLA35/40 series Park Model furnaces.

What This Board Does

The 31501 igniter control board is the central ignition brain of the Atwood Hydro Flame DC furnace. It:

  • Sends signals to open the gas valve at the correct point in the ignition cycle
  • Emits high output voltage that creates an ignition spark to light the burner
  • Monitors flame presence to ensure proper combustion
  • Manages ignition sequence timing
  • Enforces safety lock-outs on ignition failures

⭐ Safe Startup — 15-Second Ignition Delay

The board incorporates a 15-second ignition delay designed to purge any unburned gas from the combustion chamber before attempting ignition. This delay ensures a safer and more reliable ignition — eliminating the risks associated with gas buildup that could cause hazardous conditions.

⭐ Ignition Failure Lock-Out

The board features a lock-out safety feature that engages if either:

  • Spark generation fails to occur during the ignition cycle
  • The gas valve fails to open during the ignition cycle

This proactive safety feature halts further ignition attempts, providing an additional layer of security to prevent hazardous situations such as gas leaks or explosions.

⭐ Continuous Flame Monitoring

During operation, the board continuously monitors the presence and quality of the flame in the combustion chamber. Micro-amp sensing capabilities integrated with the electrode ensure the furnace operates under optimal and safe conditions. As long as the board detects the minimum required micro-amps from the electrode, it maintains uninterrupted heating without entering lock-out mode.

⚠️ Professional Installation Required

Installation involves 12V DC electrical wiring, gas system integration, and ignition system connections. Because of the safety-critical nature of furnace ignition control components, installation should be performed by a qualified RV service technician. Improper installation can result in gas leaks, ignition failures, or fire/explosion hazards.

Questions & Answers

1 question answered about this part

  • What Replaces a Doorless Atwood 8535-IV DCLP Furnace?

The Dometic DFMD35121 is the closest replacement — same 35,000 BTU output, same doorless design, and similar duct cutouts and wiring. Expect minor gas line differences; there is no exact drop-in match for the Atwood DCLP series.
