This is the control box that lets a FreshJet 5 Mechanical air conditioner run on an existing CCC 5-button multi-zone thermostat — including alongside a legacy unit such as a Penguin on the same thermostat. The FreshJet 5 Mechanical has no control logic of its own, so it needs this box to communicate with the thermostat you already have.

System Configuration
When you install a new comfort control thermostat you have to turn it off, hold down mode and zone buttons and turn it on while still holding down mode and zone. When you see FF you can release mode and zone and the thermostat should be programed to your system.
