Restore reliable slide-out operation to your Lippert In-Wall (Schwintek) 5mm shaft slide-out system with the Lippert 240015 In-Wall IG-42GM 5mm Motor Assembly. Genuine Lippert OEM replacement — no assembly required, never needs adjustment, and installs with a drill and fast-bonding adhesive. This is the 5mm output shaft variant for older Schwintek In-Wall installations.
⚠️ CRITICAL — This is the 5mm Shaft Variant
Lippert In-Wall (Schwintek) systems use either a 5mm or 10mm output shaft motor depending on when your RV was built and the slide size. Installing the wrong shaft size will prevent the motor from engaging the gear rack correctly.
Verify your shaft size before ordering:
- 5mm shaft → this 240015 is the correct motor (this listing)
- 10mm shaft, 300:1 gear ratio → order Lippert 236575 In-Wall 10mm 300:1 Motor instead
- 10mm shaft, 500:1 high-torque → order Lippert 287298 In-Wall 10mm 500:1 High-Torque Motor instead
The motor label or the Lippert In-Wall system label on the wall frame identifies your motor model. Lippert's QR-144 Motor Part Number Identification guide (available at support.lci1.com) is the authoritative reference — or contact Lippert with your RV VIN.
⚠️ Both Motors in a Slide MUST Match
Each slide-out has two motors — one in each upper corner of the wall assembly. If you're replacing only one motor, the replacement must match the shaft size AND gear ratio of the motor that remains in place. Mixing motors of different specs will cause synchronization errors and potentially damage the slide system.
⚠️ Direct-Ship from Lippert — Standard Lead Time Applies
This is a Lippert direct-ship item — expect standard Lippert 3-5 business-day lead time before shipment.
How the LCI In-Wall (Schwintek) System Works
Understanding the mechanism helps diagnose motor failures vs other system issues:
- Frame-in-frame design — no external mechanism. Outer frame is fixed in the RV wall; inner frame holds the slide-out room and rides on rollers
- Two IG-42 motors per slide-out — one in each upper corner. Each motor's output shaft engages a horizontal gear rack inside the wall
- Magnetic encoder for synchronization — each motor has an encoder that counts revolutions; the In-Wall controller tracks and synchronizes both motors
- Error codes — the controller reports specific error codes (see TI-177) when it detects motor faults, sync problems, or obstructions
⚠️ Resynchronize After Motor Replacement
After motor replacement, the controller must be resynchronized per Lippert Technical Information Sheet TI-177. Failure to resynchronize may result in the slide-out tracking unevenly or the controller reporting error codes.
Compatible with 70+ RV Brands
The LCI In-Wall (Schwintek) system is standard equipment across more than 70 RV manufacturers including Grand Design, Keystone, Coachmen, Forest River, Heartland, Thor, and many others.
Motor Features
- No assembly required — all components come pre-attached
- Never needs adjustment — exact-match OEM component
- 12V DC operation from the RV house battery
- Magnetic encoder for synchronization with the partner motor
- Mounts inside the slide-out wall — no external mechanical hardware required
Installation Requirements
- Drill or cordless screw gun (NOT included)
- Fast-bonding adhesive — Loctite or equivalent (NOT included)
- Slide-out retracted fully before starting
- Interior trim removal to access the motor housing
- Do NOT use an impact driver — use a standard drill or cordless screw gun
What's Included
- (1) Lippert 240015 IG-42GM 5mm motor assembly (fully pre-assembled)
- Mounting hardware
NOT Included — Required for Installation:
- Fast-bonding adhesive (Loctite or equivalent)
- Drill or cordless screw gun
NOT Included — May Need Separately:
- In-Wall controller (if controller, not motor, is root cause)
- Wiring harness (if damaged)
Common Failure Symptoms This Part Addresses
- One side of the slide moves, other side does not (motor on non-moving side failed)
- Slide moves unevenly (racks or skews)
- Grinding noise during operation (possible internal gear wear)
- Slide stops mid-travel (possible motor overheating)
⚠️ Diagnose Before Replacing
The In-Wall controller reports error codes that precisely identify the failure type — always read the error code first (per TI-177) before diagnosing or replacing any component. Many field issues are resolved by clearing an obstruction, cleaning the gear rack, or performing the resynchronization procedure — without any parts replacement.

⚠️ Professional Installation Recommended
Slide-out motor replacement involves 12V DC electrical wiring, adhesive application, and mechanical work inside the slide-out wall assembly. Installation should be performed by a qualified RV service technician unless you have prior experience with In-Wall system service. Always verify smooth slide operation across the full extension/retraction range after installation.
